COMMUNITY SERVICES

Meals on Wheels / Meals at Home Volunteer
Bring nutritious meals to homebound elderly who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. Meals are delivered in the greater Princeton area or in Hamilton-Trenton. Delivery takes place 11am-12:30pm.

BLOOD SERVICES

Blood Services Volunteer
Blood services volunteers welcome donors at blood drives. They assist them through the registration process; provide refreshments, ensuring that donors feel healthy before they leave the blood drive; and thank them for their life-saving donation.

Host a Blood Drive
Every day someone in your community needs blood. The American Red Cross is responsible for the collection and testing of over half the nation's blood supply. Every 56 days, your office, school or place of worship could save lives!

EMERGENCY SERVICES

Disaster Action Team (DAT) – Local Disasters
Disaster Action Team volunteers respond to local disasters such as single-family or multi-unit fires, “hazmat” incidents and floods. They provide basic financial assistance and referrals to disaster victims, open shelters as needed, and provide canteen services to disaster victims and emergency services workers.

National Disaster Responders
National disaster responders are part of the American Red Cross Nationwide Disaster Response System. Disaster assignments are available to those volunteers active in their local chapter and are typically three weeks in duration. The Red Cross provides funds to cover travel, lodging and meals while on assignment. Jobs within the DSHR system include Sheltering, Feeding, Community Relations, Disaster Assessment, Emergency response Vehicle (ERV) driver, Client Casework, Computer Networking and Operations, Bulk Distribution, Facilities, Health Services, Mental Health Services, Financial and Statistical Information Management, and Communications and Marketing.

Disaster Dispatcher
Disaster dispatchers provide the critical link between the public/emergency services personnel and theChapter during after-hours when the office is closed. The Dispatcher handles calls and dispatches volunteers and/or on-call staff.

Disaster Health Services (DHS)
DHS volunteers meet the disaster-related health needs of victims by providing direct services in person, via telephone, or by providing consultation to Disaster Responders. DHS volunteers provide assistance in shelters, administer first aid and provide referrals for clients, Red Cross volunteers and staff.

Disaster Mental Health Services (DMH)
Disaster Mental Health volunteers provide psychological first aid, assessment and referrals for the disaster-related needs of victims, emergency responders, and Red Cross volunteers and staff. DMH volunteers also help staff shelters and provide direct assistance and referrals should additional services be required.

Community Disaster Education (CDE) Facilitator
CDE facilitators provide disaster preparedness information to community groups through presentations, informational materials and community outreach.
