What's New > Summer Leadership Conference
The students had an action packed week of learning and activities:
Monday:
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday:
CPR Training & Certification
Spark the Wave
Government Relations
International Humanitarian Law
FACT and Whale’s Tales

On the first day of the
Summer Leadership Conference,
students were trained with life-saving skills in First Aid and CPR.

Health & Safety volunteers
Amy Myzie and Dawn Brower
provided the instruction and certification.

Day two was all about volunteering! With the help of Lisa Traum from Spark the Wave, students were inspired to make a difference in their communities and learned leadership skills through interactive activities. Students are encouraged to bring these skills back to improve the organizations that they are already involved with in their own high schools.

Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh of West Windsor Township was the guest speaker on the third day, which was dedicated to Government Relations.

Mayor Hsueh spoke about his duties, but also took time to provide feedback on letters written by the students about township issues.

The next day, the students glimpsed into the world of International Humanitarian Law where they learned about the fundamental principles of the Global Red Cross Network and how they are applied.

On day five, the students learned how they can be instructors of Red Cross programs aimed to keep small children safe. First Aid for Children Today (FACT) helps teach children ages 5-8 about protecting themselves against dangers, as well as how they can respond if faced with these dangers. Longfellow’s WHALE Tales helps teach children 5-12 important lessons about water and pool safety.
