Laketa and Jonathan Green were among the 40 participants learning essential CPR and first aid skills in free classes offered today by the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey during Gabrielle Giffords Honorary Save-a-Life Saturday in Princeton.

Red Cross chapters held classes at more than 100 locations across the country, including three in New Jersey, to honor Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and all those involved in the Tucson, AZ tragedy. Across the state, approximately 155 people received instruction in hands-only CPR, controlling external bleeding and managing shock in order to create safer communities with more people aware of what to do in an emergency situation.

The Red Cross was able to provide the instruction free of charge through the generous sponsorship of Walgreens and Safeway.

The Red Cross offers a wide selection of CPR/AED, first aid, lifeguarding, swimming and water safety, caregiving, disaster response and emergency preparedness training.
