Community Services

Throughout our lives, we endeavor to remain fully healthy and active in the places and surroundings we call home.  This is what keeps us feeling and achieving our best. But, sometimes we need help.  The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey provides programs that allow our senior residents the ability to maintain independent, healthy life styles.

Meals on Wheels
Provides home-delivered meals in Princeton, Hightstown, East Windsor and other surrounding areas.  This program provides two meals a day -- one hot lunch and a cold supper -- Monday through Friday.  There is a set price that each client is charged, but no one is turned down for the inability to pay.  For more information please call Debbie Hoagland at (609) 951-2120 or email her at hoaglandd@usa.redcross.org.

Meals at Home/ Weekend Mobile Meals
Provides home-delivered meals in the Trenton and Hamilton areas.  This program provides a hot lunchtime meal Monday-Friday and on Saturdays a hot lunch and a cold sandwich (intended for Sunday consumption).  This program is funded through Office on Aging.  There is no fee for the program, but we do ask for a client donation.  For more information or to schedule an assessment, please call Brandon Verrault at (609) 951-2124 or email him at verraultb@usa.redcross.org.

Youth Services
The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey Youth Services program integrates young people of all ages into the delivery of our services to the community-at-large through meaningful volunteer opportunities.  Young people are an essential part of our service delivery and enhance our ability to respond to the needs of our communities.  Through involvement with area Red Cross Clubs, students develop leadership skills that will enable them to continue to be productive citizens as adults.

For more information about volunteer opportunities for young people in Youth Services, please email Joelle Piercy at piercyj@usa.redcross.org.

The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey also provides programs for young people of various ages to learn about preparing for disasters, responding to emergencies, and avoiding unsafe risks.  These lessons reinforce the importance of learning safe habits and developing confidence to prepare for and respond to emergencies.

For more information about disaster preparedness programs for young people, such as Masters of Disaster, please visit the Community Disaster Education page on our web site.

For more information about health and safety programs for young people, such as First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T.) or Water Habits Are Learned Early (W.H.A.L.E.) Tales, please see Health & Safety Services Programs for Youth on our web site.
