PRINCETON, NJ, December 31, 2010 –The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey is currently helping four of the five families displaced by a fire last evening in Hamilton. The fifth family was unavailable to meet with Red Cross volunteers.

Between last evening and this morning, four Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers responded to the scene to provide assistance. After meeting with the families to determine their immediate needs, 21 individuals, including 12 children, were provided with temporary lodging and financial assistance for food and clothing as needed. The families were also provided with referrals for possible long-term needs as well as comfort kits containing toiletries.
