American Red Cross Responds
Additional Shelters Opened As Massive Flooding Is Expected Along Delaware River

PRINCETON, NJ, June 28, 2006 – The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey is offering protection from rising waters, manning shelters in Trenton and West Trenton in Mercer County, and Sergeantsville in Hunterdon County, as extensive flooding forces many people from their homes. Shelters are open at the following locations:

MERCER COUNTY - TRENTON
Stokes Elementary School
Intersection of Parkside and Homan Avenues in Trenton

MERCER COUNTY - EWING/WEST TRENTON
West Trenton Fire Hall
40 West Upper Ferry Road in West Trenton

HUNTERDON COUNTY – SERGEANTSVILLE
Delaware Fire Hall
761 Route 523 in Sergeantsville

The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey will continue to open shelters to accommodate those evacuated due to the threat of rising waters should additional shelters be necessary. More information about Floods and Flash Flood Safety can be found at www.njredcross.org. The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey serves Mercer, Middlesex, and Hunterdon counties.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of thousands of disasters across the country each year, disasters like flooding in Mercer and Hunterdon Counties, by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disaster. The American Red Cross honors donor intent. If you wish to designate your donation to a specific disaster please do so at the time of your donation. Call 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P. O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
