The 2010 Red Cross Raffle is made possible through the generous donation of prizes by Volvo Cars of North America, Long Motor Company, Miele, Inc., and Continental Airlines. PRINCETON, NJ, April 30, 2010 – For nearly a decade, Volvo Cars of North America and Long Motor Company have donated the winning vehicle for the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey’s annual “You Win…You Choose” car raffle. This year, both Continental Airlines and Miele, Inc. have joined Volvo’s charitable efforts by donating prizes to help raise funds for the Red Cross.

Each 2010 Red Cross Raffle ticket offers the chance to win one of four prizes:

1st Prize: Winner chooses their 2010 Volvo – sporty C70 convertible, luxurious S80 sedan, or new XC60 crossover;
2nd Prize: Winner chooses their Miele Lifestyle Enhancing Appliances -- washing machine and dryer or dishwasher and wine cooler;
3rd Prize: Winner chooses their Miele Cleaning Essentials – S7 Tango upright or Callisto canister vacuum cleaner;
4th Prize: Winner chooses where they’d like to fly with two First Class Continental Airlines round-trip airline tickets anywhere in the 48 states, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Central America.

“Thanks to the generous donation of prizes by Volvo, Long Motor Company, Miele and Continental Airlines, every $100 ticket purchased directly supports Red Cross programs and services in central New Jersey,” said Kevin Sullivan, CEO of the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey. “This year we extended the raffle to include all five Red Cross chapters in the central region of New Jersey,” added Sullivan.

Greater Somerset County Chapter, Burlington County Chapter, Camden County Chapter and Tri-County Chapter are also assisting with ticket sales. Ticket purchases can be designated to benefit individual chapters.

In February, Red Cross volunteers and staff visited the Miele Showroom in Princeton to learn details about the appliances offered as choices in the two 2010 Red Cross Raffle Miele Prize Packages. Pictured L-R: Miele Director of Public Relations Paul McCormack explains the special features associated with the Miele washing machine and dryer to Red Cross staffers Kathleen Pearson and Carol Chodasewicz.

Last year’s raffle raised $122,600. This year, the Red Cross hopes the incentive of four chances to win and more prizes to choose helps to reach the maximum sale of 2,000 tickets.

Proceeds from the raffle benefit Red Cross programs and services including disaster response for families affected by house fires and other local disasters, meals delivered to the elderly and homebound, and emergency preparedness education. The raffle also benefits the School Safety Initiative, which brings the life saving skills of Red Cross First Aid and CPR to students of all ages at inner-city schools in Central New Jersey.

The 2010 Red Cross Raffle drawing will be held on June 10, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Miele, Inc. in Princeton. American Red Cross volunteers and staff gathered at Miele’s Showroom in Princeton recently to learn about the appliances featured in the Miele Prize Packages offered in this year’s raffle.

Purchase five tickets for $500 and receive one ticket free. Ticket orders are available online at www.njredcross.org, Ticket order forms to fax or mail in are also available online. Tickets can be purchased in person at the chapters as well as from staff and volunteers at upcoming venues throughout central New Jersey. Call 609-951-8550 for additional information.
