Red Cross Assisting Two Families Displaced by House Fire in Trenton

PRINCETON, NJ, March 9, 2011 – The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey is currently assisting two families displaced by an early morning fire at their homes on Whittaker Street in Trenton.

Two volunteer Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) members responded to the scene at approximately 4:00 a.m. to assist the families. After meeting with the families to determine their immediate needs, which included meeting with some of the family members at the hospital, seven adults and one child received emergency assistance for food and clothing and temporary lodging as needed. Referrals for long-term needs and comfort kits containing toiletries were also provided.
