Want to Learn How to Save a Life? Take Sweetheart CPR!
PRINCETON, NJ, February 1, 2008 – The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey and Rutgers Recreation will be holding Sweetheart CPR on Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 1:30-5:30 p.m. at the College Avenue Gym, Rutgers University. This adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course is open to the public and offers up to 200 individuals the opportunity to learn the life saving skill of CPR. “Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of adult death in the United States,” said Kathleen Pearson, health and safety director at the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey. “Many of these deaths can be prevented if someone quickly initiates CPR.” “Community safety is a priority at Rutgers Recreation and mass training events provide an enjoyable method to enable more people to learn life saving skills,” said Tara Francis, training coordinator for Rutgers Recreation. Participants will be certified in adult CPR by the American Red Cross on successful completion of this one-day course. Those who attend the course will also receive a free T-shirt. The cost for the course is $40.00 and registration is required. To register as a participant or for further information, visit http://recreation.rutgers.edu or call 732-445-0462. The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey is a non-governmental agency that serves the people of Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon, and parts of Somerset counties. Led by volunteers, the Red Cross offers a broad array of vital services to our community in need.
