ABOUT THE AMERICAN RED CROSS OF CENTRAL NEW JERSEY:
The Central New Jersey Chapter serves the people of Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon and parts of Somerset counties, helping our community prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, 1,229 volunteers and 25 full or part-time employees helped the victims of 132 fires, floods and other disasters in Central New Jersey; trained 55,562 residents with First Aid, CPR or other lifesaving skills; and provided care and support to 196 military families. Central New Jersey residents donated 14,647 pints of blood through the American Red Princeton Blood Donor Center or American Red Cross blood drives throughout our service area. The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.
