Please Join the Red Cross for the Grand Opening of the
William J. Noonan Disaster Operations Center
and New Princeton Blood Donor Center

Princeton, NJ, January 4, 2008 – The American Red Cross of Central New Jersey is proud to announce the opening of the William J. Noonan Disaster Operations Center located in the Red Cross’ newly acquired building space at 707 Alexander Road, Suite 302, in Princeton.

Purchase of the space was made possible with funds raised by the Keeping the Promise to a Safer Community Campaign, which was chaired by the Red Cross’ beloved past Chairman of the Board William J. Noonan. The campaign raised over $3,000,000 in three years, with half of the funds used to purchase and outfit the space and the other half to enhance safety programs and services at the chapter.

In addition to adding an additional Health & Safety Training Room, the suite also houses a new Blood Donor Center which is larger than its previous location next to the chapter’s main headquarters in Suite 101 at 707 Alexander Road. The new Blood Donor Center holds three beds dedicated to whole blood donation and three chairs dedicated to platelet apheresis donations. In addition to bigger and better space, the Center has also added hours of business to make blood donations convenient for community members. Hours of operation are Monday from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm; Tuesday through Thursday from 12:30 to 7:30 pm; Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm; and every other Saturday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Central New Jersey Chapter serves the people of Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon and parts of Somerset counties, helping our community prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, 1,229 volunteers and 25 full or part-time employees helped the victims of 132 fires, floods and other disasters in Central New Jersey; trained 55,562 residents with First Aid, CPR or other lifesaving skills; and provided care and support to 196 military families. Central New Jersey residents donated 14,647 pints of blood through the American Red Princeton Blood Donor Center or American Red Cross blood drives throughout our service area.
