FACT: In June 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the pandemic alert level to Phase 6—
a designation indicating that a global pandemic is underway.
Countries worldwide are reporting cases of H1N1 Influenza, which the WHO anticipates will persist into the upcoming influenza season. In response to this global pandemic, the American Red Cross is disseminating new resources to:
- Educate people about how to prepare for and respond effectively to pandemic flu.
- Aid in business sustainability in the face of pandemic flu.
Pandemic flu can suddenly, quickly incapacitate any organization, whether it’s a large business or a community-based organization. That’s why it’s so critical to take steps to educate your employees or individuals affiliated with your organization about how they can protect themselves against a flu pandemic, which helps ensure a safer environment for everyone.
