Two hundred guests helped Paint the Town Red during the Red Cross Gala on Saturday, April 26, 2008. The annual fundraiser for local Red Cross programs and services was held at the Tournaments Players Club at Jasna Polana, where guests enjoyed a fabulous dinner and danced to the music of The Bob Hardwick Sound.

Chairman of the Board Robert Mooney presented William Augustine with the 2008 Bob Clancy Culture of Caring award. A precious member of the Red Cross Family for nearly 10 years, Bill Augustine delivers meals to the elderly and homebound as a Meals on Wheels volunteer; serves on the Chapter’s Board of Directors; is an active fundraiser; and has assisted the chapter’s Emergency Services department during several larger local disasters, such as flooding along the Delaware River. As Robert Mooney so accurately announced, “With a quiet approach, Bill’s accomplishments have spoken volumes over the past decade.”

Several local businesses provided a wide range of silent auction items, including a Ruby Ring from Hamilton Jewelers and Two Round-Trip Business-Class Tickets to India from Jet Airways. The event raised approximately $105,000 to support Red Cross services throughout Mercer, Middlesex and Hunterdon counties.
